چکیده

We consider the Nagdhi equations which model a thin three-dimensional shell. We propose a spectral discretization of this problem in the case where the midsurface of the shell is weakly regular. We perform the numerical analysis of the discrete problem and prove optimal error estimates. 1 Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions, C.N.R.S. & Université Pierre et Marie Curie, B.C. 187, 4 place Jussieu, 75252 Paris Cedex 05, France. 2 Laboratoire de Mathématiques Raphaël Salem (U.M.R. 6085 C.N.R.S.), Université de Rouen, avenue de l’Université, B.P. 12, 76801 Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, France. e-mail addresses: [email protected], [email protected]

Finite Element Formulation for aBa ed , Fluid { Loaded , Finite Cylindrical

A new method for obtaining the response of a baaed, uid{loaded, nite cylindrical shell using the nite element method is presented. The Galerkin nite element formulation for this problem utilizes a Neumann Green's function representation of the pressure loading on the shell. By representing the pressure loading in this manner, only the structure need be discretized. Both C 0 and C 1 nite element...

Dynamic Behavior of Anisotropic Protein Microtubules Immersed in Cytosol Via Cooper–Naghdi Thick Shell Theory

In the present research, vibrational behavior of anisotropic protein microtubules (MTs) immersed in cytosol via Cooper–Naghdi shell model is investigated. MTs are hollow cylindrical structures in the eukaryotic cytoskeleton which surrounded by filament network. The temperature effect on vibration frequency is also taken into account by assuming temperature-dependent material properties for MTs....

On the Derivation of Nonlinear Shell Models from Three-dimensional Elasticity

A nonlinearly elastic shell is modeled either by the nonlinear threedimensional shell model or by a nonlinear two-dimensional shell model. We show how such two-dimensional shell models can be derived from the minimization problem associated with the nonlinear three-dimensional shell model. For shells made of a Saint Venant-Kirchhoff material, we obtain in particular the nonlinear shell models o...

The partial selective reduced integration method and applications to shell problems

We shall briefly present here the main idea of partial selective reduced integration as developed in [1], [2]. As we shall see the idea is quite general and can be applied to a number of different situations. For the sake of simplicity, however, we shall concentrate on the particular case of Naghdi shell models. Once the idea is understood, its generalisation to other cases should be straightfo...
